DR ‹ › Accor is expanding its footprint in Morocco by deepening its long-standing partnership with Risma. As the leading hotel operator in the country, Risma manages 24 properties across 11 cities and serves as a crucial strategic partner for Accor in this market. The French group, which has been active in Morocco for over thirty years, already boasts an impressive portfolio comprising around ten brands, 43 hotels, and more than 6,600 rooms. Announcements made on April 3 in Casablanca, during the visit of Accor's CEO, Sébastien Bazin, signal a new phase in this collaboration. A centerpiece of this strategy is the planned opening of a 175-room Sofitel in Tangier by 2029, situated on the new waterfront overlooking the strait. This project aims to elevate the city's luxury offerings and, more broadly, position Morocco as a premier destination for high-end tourism. In tandem, the two groups are launching a program to renovate and reposition their hotel portfolio, with goals to modernize infrastructure, refine the segmentation of establishments, and enhance competitiveness. A major focus is the creation of a Tourism Training Academy, co-financed by Accor and Risma, to cultivate local talent and support the sector's upscale development. This renewed momentum comes as the capital relationship between the two partners is redefined since 2023. It is now centered on a shared growth strategy, with increased reliance on the franchise model to accelerate expansion. «We reaffirm our confidence in the potential of Moroccan tourism», stated Sébastien Bazin, highlighting a lasting commitment to investment and talent development. On Risma's side, its leaders view this partnership as a crucial lever for modernizing the national hotel industry and elevating its standards. This surge in growth aligns with the prospect of the 2030 World Cup, identified as a significant catalyst for boosting the country's international appeal.
