DR ‹ › A 25-year-old Moroccan woman was shot dead on April 15 in her apartment in Montreal's Ville-Marie district. Police were called to the scene around 3:25 p.m. for a welfare check and found the victim, Hiba El Rhazi, seriously injured in the upper body. Despite resuscitation attempts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her partner, 27-year-old Alexandre Karim Amaury Restau, was arrested shortly afterward at Montreal-Trudeau Airport and later charged with manslaughter. Authorities say he allegedly admitted to the crime and is accused of causing her death using a firearm, local media reported. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance later this month. While investigators have yet to formally confirm a domestic violence context, several residents of the building reported that the victim had been subjected to repeated abuse. «We heard things before… quite often», one neighbor told TVA Nouvelles, describing a situation of control and ongoing violence.
