After their discussions, the senior U.S. diplomat highlighted to the press that the relationship between Algeria and the United States is at a «pivotal moment». He emphasized the need to «strengthen these ties», particularly through collaboration to address security challenges in the Sahel and to seek a resolution to the Western Sahara conflict, which has persisted for over five decades. Meanwhile, General Anderson underscored the importance of combating terrorism, denouncing «terrorist groups that violate human dignity and state sovereignty, operating without regard for borders». Both Christopher Landau and General Anderson commended Algeria's dedication to the fight against terrorism. Furthermore, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf held talks with the U.S. official, while the AFRICOM chief met on the same day with the Minister Delegate for National Defense and Chief of Staff of the Army, General Saïd Chengriha.
