In a new stage of mobilization, the Coordination of Health Sector Unions has announced a five-day national strike, from this Monday to next Friday. This work suspension will affect all hospital establishments, administrative offices, and training centers, with the exception of emergency and resuscitation services. It comes in response to what the structure considers as «a delay in response» regarding the follow-up to the results of the consultations between the government and social partners. The body, which includes eight organizations, also announced that a sit-in is planned in front of the Parliament on Thursday, September 25, starting at 11:30 AM. In fact, this escalation follows a meeting held on Friday with the union coordination, at the invitation of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, commissioned by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch. The meeting aimed to inform about the measures the executive has decided to take concerning the health personnel's demands, in accordance with the sectoral agreement signed with the unions. In a communiqué, the structure highlighted that it had engaged with these proposals to implement the points of agreement and the minutes, in their legal and material aspects. Noting a delay, it claims to have «sent a letter to the Head of Government, nearly a week after the responses formulated by the coordination to accelerate the implementation». Faced with what it calls «incomprehensible silence» from Akhannouch, the coordination has thus decided to move on to other stages of its «struggle and escalation program». In this context, the body holds the head of government «responsible for the negative consequences that could result from this strike, especially regarding the impact on health services for citizens». Earlier this month, the day after a march was prevented in Rabat, the coordination announced a continuous strike over two weeks. The planned strike days are from Monday to Friday (July 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19, 2024), as well as the current week (July 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26).
