In London, on the sidelines of the "Future of Energy Security" summit, Leila Benali, Morocco's Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, engaged in numerous strategic exchanges. This Saturday, she held a bilateral meeting with Ed Miliband, the UK's Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. Accompanied by Hakim Hajoui, Morocco's ambassador to the UK, Benali highlighted the kingdom's ambitious vision, driven by King Mohammed VI, to achieve energy sovereignty. Morocco is thus continuing the rollout of major projects in renewable energy and green hydrogen, aiming to establish its position as a regional and international leader. In response, Ed Miliband openly expressed his admiration for Morocco's dynamic approach, praising a "pioneering" experience that makes the kingdom a key player in the energy transition and a reliable partner for shared energy and climate challenges. At the heart of the discussions were accelerating bilateral cooperation around renewable energies, the development of green hydrogen, and strengthening energy infrastructure. The stated goal is to build a solid alliance to combine energy security, sustainable development, and the fight against climate change. This dialogue is part of a broader strategic rapprochement between Rabat and London, at a time when global energy issues demand new models of cooperation.
