The animated short film Harun & Mamun represented Morocco at the MIFA Pitches Partners program during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with its official pitch presented on June 12 at the Imperial Palace. Directed by Jihane Joypaul and produced by Ali Rguigue, the project places Morocco on the global animation stage, in line with the Moroccan Cinematographic Center's (CCM) strategy to support the national development of the sector. Director Jihane Joypaul offers a stop-motion narrative that «blends emotion, memory, and catastrophe in an urban landscape inspired by Casablanca». According to a statement, «the film follows a father and son navigating a world frozen by the impending impact of a meteorite—uncovering, in this suspended moment, the deep wounds of a broken family bond». The project is currently in development, with set construction underway at Morocco's first stop-motion studio, recently established at Flow Motion School. This initiative is part of a tripartite collaboration involving the Animasyros Festival, the French Institute of Morocco, the CCM, and Artcoustic, and is benefiting from the guidance of acclaimed international directors, the statement adds. Selected among the top five projects at the MIFA Pitches Partners, Harun & Mamun has garnered praise from major industry institutions. Meanwhile, under the France-Morocco co-production agreement, Khalid Nait Zlay's project Malik is also under negotiation—further strengthening the international visibility of Moroccan animation.
