The incest case that has shocked the community of El Menzeh, near Ain Aouda outside Rabat, has taken new turns. The Rabat Court of Appeal has ordered the father, the main suspect, to be placed in pre-trial detention at Tamesna prison. His daughter, who had six children with him, has also been jailed in the women's section of the same prison. At the request of the prosecutor, the judge also ordered that a younger daughter be sent to a child protection center in Fez, as there are suspicions that she too was abused by her father. This decision was made to protect her due to her fragile psychological condition, according to Assabah. The suspect's wife, born in 1953 and 13 years older than him, will also face prosecution for hiding the crime. However, she remains free because of her poor health. The case goes back to 2005, when the daughter gave birth to her first child fathered by her own father. Between 2006 and 2010, she gave birth to five more children. The scandal was exposed when a young man tried to marry the eldest daughter, but problems with the marriage documents led her to file a complaint. She revealed that she was the product of an incestuous relationship between her mother and her grandfather, who is also her father. The judge is now waiting for the results of DNA tests being carried out by the Royal Gendarmerie in Rabat, after the children's mother claimed she had also had a relationship with another man from Oued Zem.
