The families of the young Moroccan migrants who have gone missing have announced a national sit-in on the 16th and 17th of September in Rabat. This protest will take place in front of both the Annex of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union Delegation, demanding the truth about the fate of their children who have been missing for years at sea or in detention centers in Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia. The families' coordination committee stated in a communiqué, a copy of which was received by Yabiladi, that this move comes after more than five years of waiting and suffering to learn the fate of their children who disappeared in the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, or in Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia. The families emphasized their commitment to the demand for justice and fairness by opening serious investigations and involving them in the data and complaints submitted to the public prosecutor's office. The families called on the Moroccan state, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to intensify cooperation with international and human rights organizations, including the National Council for Human Rights, the International Red Cross, and the Red Crescent, for urgent and immediate intervention to uncover the fate of the missing and repatriate those detained in Libya. They also urged the acceleration and simplification of the identification process through DNA genetic analyses of the bodies washed ashore. The coordination committee also urged national and international human rights organizations and the media to support them and shed light on the issue, warning against the proliferation of fraud and scam mafias on social networks that exploit the families' suffering.
