The Atlas Lions have climbed one spot to reach 11th place in the latest FIFA Men's World Ranking, published Thursday by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). Morocco now has 1,706.27 points (+7.55), benefiting from Germany's drop (12th, -3), as the four-time world champions exit the Top 10 for the first time since October 2024 after losing their opening match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This ranking returns Morocco to the position it last held in April 2023, just behind Croatia and Italy, who have risen to 9th (+1) and 10th (+1) place respectively. At the top, the first major shake-up sees Spain (1st, +1) ending Argentina's dominance (3rd, -2). Argentina had led the ranking since April 2023, but the reigning European champions now reclaim the top spot for the first time since 2014. France (2nd, +1) also leapfrogs Argentina, while Portugal climbs back into the Top 5 (5th, +1), capitalizing on Brazil's drop (6th, -1). In Africa, Morocco continues to lead the continental ranking, followed by Senegal, who remain 18th globally. Egypt stays third but slips one spot to 35th, while Algeria drops two positions to 38th. The biggest improvement comes from Slovakia (42nd, +10), which storms back into the Top 50 thanks to an impressive start to its qualifying campaign, including two wins—one of them against Germany. Other notable climbers include Gambia (115th, +8), Madagascar (108th, +7), Paraguay (37th, +6), Uganda (82nd, +6), Libya (112th, +5), Suriname (131st, +5), and the Faroe Islands (136th, +5), all gaining at least five places. Also worth noting, Canada (26th, +2)—one of the three co-hosts of the next FIFA World Cup—and Kosovo (91st, +4) have both reached their highest-ever positions since the ranking's creation in 1993.
