The 10th stage of the symbolic relay race commemorating the Green March, orchestrated by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sport for All (FRMSPT), kicked off on Sunday in Guelmim. This event forms part of the festivities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the historic Green March. The occasion was graced by the presence of Fayçal Benzaouia, Secretary General of the Wilaya of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, Nezha Bidouane, President of the FRMSPT, along with several local dignitaries and sports personalities. During the ceremony, Fayçal Benzaouia presented the flag for the 10th stage, which links Guelmim to Tan-Tan, to champion Rachid Labsir, a silver medalist at both the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games and the 1991 Mediterranean Games in Athens. Nezha Bidouane highlighted that each segment of this race celebrates the enduring spirit of the Green March and honors the collective memory of the Moroccan people. She noted that this event pays tribute to elite Moroccan athletes who have proudly flown the national flag and represented Morocco on the world stage. She further remarked that this race serves as a symbolic occasion to mark the 50th anniversary of the Green March, emphasizing that the national duty calls upon everyone, particularly athletes, to carry this torch forward and pass it on to future generations. Commencing on October 15 in Tangier, the symbolic race continues its southward journey through the Kingdom, with upcoming stops in Tan-Tan (October 27), Tarfaya (October 28), Laâyoune (October 30), Boujdour (November 1), and Bir Guendouz (November 4), before reaching its grand finale in Dakhla on November 6.
