Paraguay's Foreign Minister Rubén Darío Ramírez is on an official visit to Morocco, where he met with his counterpart Nasser Bourita on Wednesday, October 29. The visit follows Paraguay's official recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara on September 22 in New York, during the UN General Assembly. After their talks, the two ministers signed a joint communiqué reaffirming their commitment to deepen bilateral ties into what Bourita called a «promising strategic partnership» based on structured political dialogue and multidimensional cooperation. Bourita welcomed Paraguay's plan to open a consulate in Dakhla, describing Asunción as a «loyal ally» and expressing Morocco's readiness to support Paraguay's development efforts. Ramírez, for his part, said «for Paraguay, Morocco is a strategic ally», announcing that President Santiago Peña Palacios will visit Morocco before the end of the first quarter of 2026. He added that Paraguay hopes to serve as a gateway for Moroccan products into MERCOSUR, South America's regional trade bloc.
