This weekend in Nairobi, the Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG) announced the winners of the 2025 edition of the «50 Most Influential African Women in Sport», an accolade celebrating women who are shaping the future of sports on the continent. Among these distinguished figures is Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB). She was honored for her pivotal role in advancing women's sports and her significant contributions to the development of volleyball in Africa. This recognition shines a spotlight on women from diverse backgrounds, Olympic icons, political leaders, federation heads, businesswomen, journalists, and grassroots sports advocates, each playing a unique role in the evolution of African sports. In a statement to MAP, Hajij expressed her pride in being named among the 50 most influential African women in sport for 2025. «Being recognized alongside leaders, athletes, and pioneers who work tirelessly to elevate African sports is a tremendous honor», said Bouchra Hajij. She dedicated this distinction to all African and Moroccan women who are committed, innovative, and contributing to building a more equitable future through sports. Meanwhile, Leslie Koroma, founder and CEO of Africa Sports Ventures Group, highlighted the essential role these women play as the backbone of African sports. He noted that their courage, vision, and excellence not only inspire the next generation of female athletes but also drive the continent's broader quest for transformation. The 2026 edition of this award is set to take place in Dakar, Senegal, coinciding with the Youth Olympic Games.
