The Polisario Front appears ready to reconsider its decision to break the ceasefire it had unilaterally abandoned on November 13, 2020. «A military and political delegation from the Front is expected early next week in the United States to discuss with American officials and United Nations representatives a possible return to the agreements of September 26, 1991», a source close to the matter told Yabiladi. This Saturday, Sahrawis from the Tindouf camps announced on social media that the Polisario might have agreed to lay down arms. The magazine Futuro Saharaui even attributed this decision to Brahim Ghali. The information spread rapidly before an «authorized source» denied it in a media outlet close to the Front. On November 13, the Polisario celebrated in the Tindouf camps the fifth anniversary of the resumption of hostilities against Morocco. On the same day, the official SPS agency published an article applauding the determination of «the Sahrawi army to face challenges until sovereignty is achieved». The possibility of a return to respecting the 1991 ceasefire prompted Bachir Mustapha Sayed to break his silence, which he had maintained since the adoption of Resolution 2979 by the Security Council on October 31. This evening, he firmly rejected any possibility of re-establishing the ceasefire and instead called for an «intensification of the war against Morocco». In its Resolution 2797, the UN Security Council emphasizes that «it is important that the ceasefire be respected and that any acts likely to undermine the political process be avoided».
