Obtained by New York Post ‹ › The former President of the United States reportedly brought Jeffrey Epstein, the late American financier later charged with sex trafficking, and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who has since been convicted in a related case, as guests to King Mohammed VI's wedding in 2002, according to a report published Thursday by the New York Post. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Post claims that Bill Clinton, who had been invited to the Moroccan sovereign's wedding, «shocked» members of his own team by asking whether he could bring Epstein and Maxwell as his guests to the ceremony, which took place in July 2002 in Rabat. The newspaper also published a group photograph it says was taken during the royal wedding, showing Clinton alongside his daughter Chelsea, wearing a pink caftan, Epstein, Maxwell, and two other men, one of whom is dressed in traditional Moroccan attire.. According to the Post's sources, it was Chelsea Clinton who insisted on taking the photo. A request seen as «rude» A source said Clinton's request was viewed internally as «rude», but that he nevertheless «insisted» and «pushed» for Epstein and Maxwell to be included. According to the same report, Clinton, Epstein, and Maxwell traveled to Morocco aboard Epstein's private jet, often referred to as the «Lolita Express», while Chelsea Clinton traveled separately. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton did not attend, with one source telling the Post she was serving in the U.S. Senate at the time. The Post further reported that Clinton's request was ultimately accepted. «It's unclear what exactly the king's aides said upon receiving the request, 'but obviously they said yes'», the newspaper wrote, quoting its sources. One source quoted by the Post claimed that «everyone sat for the ceremony part and then moved to a dinner portion». «Clinton and Epstein and Ghislaine sat with the king. It was like a formal, sit-down, black tie, fancy, fancy wedding», the same source claimed. Clinton had no knowledge of Epstein's crimes Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña did not deny that Epstein and Maxwell attended the wedding. Responding to the Post, he said: «I don't know how many times we need to say there was travel more than 20 years ago before he was cut off. Apparently, we need to say it one more time. But nice try». Ureña had previously stated in 2019 that Clinton had no knowledge of Epstein's crimes while his his office said that he cut ties with Epstein in 2005. It is worth noting that Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy involving underage girls, following an earlier 2008 plea deal in Florida. He died in custody in August 2019 at a New York federal jail and his death was officially ruled a suicide. Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein and was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years in prison, a conviction that has so far been upheld on appeal. The case continues to resurface amid the unsealing of court documents, renewed media scrutiny, and ongoing legal fallout connected to Epstein's network.
