DR ‹ › As the year draws to a close with the highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025) on the horizon, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has strategically expanded its fleet by introducing four Airbus A320s. Although RAM typically favors Boeing aircraft, this temporary decision was made to accommodate the surge in demand during the New Year period and to prepare for the major continental football event. This move aims to facilitate smoother connections to and from numerous European destinations. The leasing agreement was secured with Avion Express Malta and Heston Airlines, covering both the aircraft and their technical crews, as RAM's pilots are mainly trained for Boeing operations. However, the cabin crew will be from the national airline, ensuring that RAM's high service standards are upheld for travelers. These aircraft were delivered by mid-December and have been integrated into the flight schedule to serve the Christmas and year-end holiday rush at RAM's primary hubs, in alignment with Morocco hosting CAN 2025. Currently, RAM's fleet comprises around sixty aircraft, predominantly Boeings, with a few Embraer and ATR planes. The airline's ambition is to expand to 200 aircraft by 2037, driven by the historic influx of arrivals at Moroccan airports. A recent milestone was achieved at Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport, which welcomed over 11 million passengers, reflecting an impressive increase of more than 9.3% compared to 2024.
