Saida El Alami ‹ › The administration of Ain Sebaa 1 prison has denied allegations claiming that inmate Saida El Alami was subjected to torture or assault and that she is currently on a hunger strike. Responding to reports circulated on certain websites and social media platforms alleging that her «clothes and bedding were sprayed with water by a prison officer, prompting her to begin a hunger strike», the prison administration stated that the inmate has never submitted any notice indicating such action. In a clarification, the Ain Sebaa 1 administration confirmed that the inmate continues to eat the meals provided to her and regularly makes purchases from the prison canteen. It also reported that a delegation from the Casablanca-Settat Regional Human Rights Commission (CRDH), led by its president and accompanied by a doctor, met with the inmate on Monday, December 29. Following the visit and discussions with the prison director, the commission's president stated that the inmate denied the allegations that she had been subjected to torture or assault. She further explained that the marks observed on the inmate's hand were the result of a blood test carried out on December 25 for medical analysis. According to the same source, the commission also noted that the inmate had expressed a desire to access the prison shop at any time. However, the prison director clarified that such a request does not comply with the facility's internal regulations, which operate on a rotation system between different cell blocks for access to the canteen.
