DR ‹ › Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat is set to undergo surgery on his right ankle in the Netherlands later this week, after conservative treatment failed to relieve the pain he has been suffering since an accidental collision with his teammate Isco. The decision to opt for surgery was taken by mutual agreement between Real Betis, the Moroccan national team, Turkish club Fenerbahçe, and the player himself, following several days of medical consultations, particularly after the end of his Africa Cup of Nations campaign. Amrabat is currently on loan at Real Betis from Fenerbahçe until the end of the season. He featured in the first two matches of the continental tournament but was sidelined for the remainder due to persistent pain, raising concerns over his physical condition. The length of his absence will be determined once he begins the rehabilitation process, which is scheduled to take place in Seville after his return.
