DR ‹ › Police at the Marrakech-Menara Airport apprehended a French national on Tuesday, who is suspected of being involved in a case of forgery and the use of forged documents, as well as international drug trafficking and the smuggling of psychotropic substances. The suspect, aged 32, was caught in the act of possessing and using a falsified passport, according to a security source. Technical investigations conducted on his mobile phone revealed digital traces suggesting his involvement in criminal activities related to international drug trafficking and the smuggling of psychotropic substances. Checks against the suspect in the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database showed that he was the subject of an international wanted notice, under a red notice issued at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris. A judicial decision had been made against him for his alleged involvement in a case of kidnapping and violent sequestration, as part of a settling of scores between drug trafficking networks, the same source added. The suspect has been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation to clarify all the circumstances of this case. Furthermore, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in France of this arrest, with a view to sending the extradition file.
