DR ‹ › Pietro Tranchina will become the first Moroccan skier to compete in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, representing the Kingdom at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Born and raised in Susa, near Turin, Tranchina said that choosing to compete for Morocco, his mother's country, gave him the opportunity to perform at the highest level, develop as an athlete, and gain valuable international experience. His decision was also influenced by his close relationship with his mother, Sadia. Set to make his Olympic debut in the coming days and race in Italy wearing the Moroccan colors, Tranchina said competing in Milan–Cortina will feel like «playing on home soil too», providing him with added motivation. His goal is to deliver his best performance and aim for a top-30 finish, while continuing his World Cup progression under coach Thomas Bottero and skiman Simone Remolif, as he builds a sporting career bridging Italy and Morocco. The Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to 22, across multiple venues in Lombardy and northeastern Italy.
