DR ‹ › Provincial authorities in Khénifra deployed an emergency response and field mobilization on Sunday as part of proactive measures to address the rising water levels of the Oum Er-Rbia River, which runs through the city. The move aims to ensure public safety and protect lives and property. Carried out in close coordination with the relevant services and with the support of Civil Protection teams, the interventions targeted several critical points along the riverbanks. Efforts focused on strengthening monitoring and stepping up preventive action to avert potential risks, particularly in flood-prone neighborhoods and along tributaries connected to the river. These operations form part of a large-scale emergency plan implemented by the Provincial Monitoring Committee. The plan is based on continuous situation tracking, real-time data sharing, and the activation of forecasting and early-warning mechanisms, while reinforcing coordination between local authorities and technical services to ensure a high level of responsiveness. At the same time, a series of preventive measures were adopted to guarantee the continuity of wastewater and drainage services. These included clearing sewer networks and rainwater drainage channels, as well as the immediate repair of damage caused by recent bad weather in certain sections, in order to prevent disruptions to the system. Provincial authorities in Khénifra, working alongside all stakeholders, remain on maximum alert until conditions return to normal. This approach combines constant vigilance with sustained mobilization, in line with the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI, which place the safety of citizens and the protection of their property as an absolute priority.
