DR ‹ › Evacuation operations continued on Sunday in the Al Haouafate municipality, in Sidi Kacem province, benefiting several rural communities, as part of the maximum mobilization of provincial and local authorities following the rise in water levels of the Sebou River. Local authorities focused their efforts on carrying out swift and preventive evacuations of families living in areas adjacent to the riverbanks, particularly in the douars of Lahmidiyine, Drarsa, Laazib, and Sahraoui. Residents were relocated to safe and adequately equipped areas. These operations involved personnel from the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, and the Auxiliary Forces, working in close coordination with provincial and local authorities. The aim was to ensure the smooth execution of the evacuations, while deploying the necessary logistical resources and human means to safeguard citizens and their property. According to local authorities, alongside evacuation measures, basic food aid will be distributed to populations surrounded by floodwaters following the closure of certain road links. While these areas are not directly threatened by flooding, they have become isolated due to rising water levels. These efforts form part of the emergency plan implemented in Sidi Kacem province to secure vulnerable areas and mitigate the impact of recent weather disturbances on rural populations and infrastructure. Provincial and local authorities remain on high alert, closely monitoring developments along the Sebou River and standing ready to intervene immediately to provide assistance whenever necessary.
