DR ‹ › The Moroccan Insurance Federation has announced the initiation of insurance compensation for flood victims, following the Head of Government's declaration of a catastrophic event in accordance with Law 110-14 for several communities in the provinces of Kenitra, Larache, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane. The federation explained in a statement on Monday that compensation eligibility applies to individuals holding insurance contracts that cover the consequences of catastrophic events, provided they are located within the communities that will be specified by the forthcoming administrative decision in the coming days, in line with the current regulatory provisions. The compensation system includes insurance contracts that cover property damage, such as multi-risk insurance for housing or industrial and commercial activities, in addition to car insurance contracts that cover damage to vehicles as well as bodily injuries that may affect the owner, their spouse, and children, including in cases of death. It also includes civil liability contracts related to bodily injuries that may occur to others within the insured spaces. The Moroccan Insurance Federation urged policyholders and beneficiaries to communicate with insurance intermediaries to verify their compensation rights and to file their claims. The federation emphasized that insurance companies will directly register insured victims in the national census while continuing to mobilize their networks to address various inquiries. It is noted that the Head of Government issued a decision last week declaring the floods that affected several provinces of the kingdom as a disaster, classifying the communities of the four provinces (Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane) as the most affected and designating them as disaster-stricken areas.
