DR ‹ › A visit to Morocco by an Irish mayor in January has prompted a revision of airport travel policy after €800 was spent on private transfers. The official, Galway Mayor Mike Cubbard, is at the center of a Galway City Council report after a chauffeur service costing €400 each way to Dublin Airport was booked for the trip. The council has since decided that public transport will now be the default for airport travel, with chauffeur services reserved for exceptional cases. During the Morocco visit, the mayor met with officials in Agadir and took part in engagements with tourism and business representatives as part of efforts to strengthen ties with the kingdom. The trip followed an invitation from the Moroccan Embassy in Ireland and the Souss-Massa region, aimed at boosting tourism and cultural cooperation.
