DR ‹ › GNV will deploy two new LNG-powered vessels, GNV Aurora from June 1 and GNV Virgo from July 1, on the Genoa–Barcelona–Tangier Med route as part of Operation Marhaba 2026. The move marks a new step in the company's expansion in Morocco, according to a statement released on April 15. The two next-generation ships, among the most advanced in GNV's fleet, are expected to strengthen maritime links between Europe and Morocco while improving efficiency, comfort, and environmental performance. Their launch follows close coordination with Moroccan authorities and Tanger Med port. Powered by liquefied natural gas, the vessels can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% per transported load. GNV Aurora is also equipped with cold ironing technology, allowing it to connect to shore power and eliminate emissions while docked. GNV Aurora can accommodate more than 1,700 passengers across 426 cabins and carry up to 2,780 linear meters of freight. GNV Virgo offers similar technical specifications. The company also announced that GNV Aurora will be officially christened in Tangier on June 1.
