DR ‹ › A Ryanair flight bound for Marrakech departed empty from Vatry Airport in northeastern France on April 14, leaving behind all 192 passengers who had booked seats, Le Figaro reported on Sunday. The incident occurred due to a lack of security staff responsible for passenger screening, after a large portion of personnel from the subcontractor «Sécurus» called in sick. According to airport director Fabrice Pauquet, the situation was unexpected: no security team was present when check-in opened, and it was impossible to deploy a replacement team in time. As a result, the aircraft, scheduled for a 3.5-hour flight to Morocco, took off without passengers. So far, none of the affected travelers have received compensation, the same source reported. Responsibility remains disputed, with the airport stating that any additional costs fall on the airline, which would then turn to its service provider. However, Ryanair has told passengers that no compensation is due, citing circumstances beyond its control, despite passengers arguing that the situation does not qualify as a strike.
