The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has issued a call for national producers to take part in the pre-selection process for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, ahead of the 98th Academy Awards organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Moroccan producers whose films meet the Academy's eligibility criteria are invited to submit their application to the CCM. Submissions must include a completed registration form, a copy of the distribution contract, and a formal commitment to the film's commercial release, according to a statement from the Center. Eligible submissions include feature-length fiction, animation, or documentary films (over 40 minutes), produced outside the United States and its territories, with a predominantly non-English dialogue track. To qualify, candidate films must have had a commercial release in Moroccan cinemas for at least seven consecutive days between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, the statement specifies. A selection committee composed of Moroccan film professionals will be appointed to choose the film that will represent Morocco in the Oscar race. The committee will screen all eligible films and meet in September 2025 to deliberate and make its final decision. The deadline to submit participation requests is July 31, 2025. Full eligibility rules are available on the Academy's official website: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/rules-eligibility.
