A Moroccan migrant was shot in the shoulder while attempting to cross illegally into Bulgaria, the country's Ministry of Interior announced Friday. The incident took place Thursday night near the village of Zvezdets, where border police intercepted a group of about 20 Moroccan nationals. According to authorities, one of the officers was attacked during the encounter. The migrant reportedly ignored police orders and attempted to flee. After warning shots were fired, he was shot in the shoulder in what officials described as an act of self-defense. He was later taken to a hospital in Burgas.
