The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has denied accusations that it is obstructing the issuance of operating licenses for drivers using ride-hailing apps. In a statement sent to Yabiladi, the department led by Abdessamad Kayouh (Istiqlal Party) clarified that «current laws and regulations in Morocco governing road passenger transport do not include specific provisions addressing these services». The ministry also noted that «ride-hailing services mainly concern the urban transport sector, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior». It is worth recalling that in July, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit told the House of Representatives that transporting passengers «without legal authorization constitutes an illegal activity, exposing offenders to penalties under existing regulations». This clarification comes amid growing tensions and repeated clashes between traditional taxi drivers and those working with digital platforms.
