easyJet has announced ambitious expansion plans in Morocco, including the opening of its first African base in Marrakech in spring 2026, under a new partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). The base will operate three aircraft year-round, creating 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect ones, while consolidating the airline's position as the second-largest carrier in Marrakech, easyJet said in a press release on Wednesday. The partnership will allow easyJet to offer a record 4 million seats in the first year and strengthen Morocco's connectivity with European markets. Starting summer 2026, the airline will launch four new routes: Hamburg, Lille, and Strasbourg to Marrakech, and Geneva to Tangier, bringing the total number of easyJet routes to Morocco to 46, across five Moroccan airports, Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier. Several existing routes will also see increased frequency. «Morocco is a key market for us, it's our fastest-growing market outside Europe and a major destination for our customers», Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet. «With this new base, we'll expand our leisure and business network to Morocco from more European destinations than ever before». Marking its 20th year in Morocco, easyJet has carried around 20 million passengers to and from the country since 2006.
