The acting mayor of Tilburg, a city in southern Netherlands, has decided to close the Moroccan Foundation Tilburg (Mast) clubhouse on Goirkekanaaldijk for four months after police discovered two firearms during a raid on October 11, Dutch media reported on Tuesday. The large-scale police operation involved four arrest teams and found about 30 people inside the building. Two men, aged 32 and 49, were arrested for gun possession, while another, 35, was detained for failing to show identification. The foundation, which rents the former football clubhouse from the municipality, has been given the opportunity to respond before the decision takes effect. The incident is particularly embarrassing for the city, which last year forgave part of Mast's €8,300 rent debt due to its social work. The municipality confirmed it is now in talks with the foundation regarding the closure's impact and its ongoing activities.
