DR ‹ › The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sports has decided to extend the suspension of classes in several northern provinces as an exceptional measure, due to the ongoing severe weather and the risk of new floods. The decision follows the warning bulletins issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology. The suspension affects six provinces: Tetouan, M'diq-Fnideq, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Chefchaouen, and Ouezzane. Regional education directorates in these areas announced on Monday evening that classes would remain suspended today in all public and private schools to ensure the safety of students and educational and administrative staff. At the higher education level, the Larache Multidisciplinary Faculty, part of Abdelmalek Essaâdi University in Tetouan, also announced the suspension of classes on Tuesday in response to the weather alert forecasting severe conditions in the province of Larache over the next two days. This measure comes amid widespread school closures across several regions of the Kingdom, including Safi, where the floods claimed 37 lives. Other affected provinces include Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Errachidia, Midelt, Azilal, and Khenifra, due to ongoing atmospheric instability, heavy snowfall, and strong rains expected to continue in the coming days.
