DR ‹ › YouTuber Ilyas El Malki will be eligible for an alternative sentence involving community service once the ruling against him becomes final, his lawyer Abdelhamid Sabri confirmed on Tuesday. Speaking to the media, Sabri explained that this penalty allows the convicted individual to carry out work of public interest in lieu of serving a prison sentence. Such work may include services for state institutions, local authorities, charitable organizations, or non-governmental bodies, and is performed without financial compensation. He added that the initial ruling issued by the Court of First Instance in El Jadida requires El Malki to complete 900 hours of community service. For the purpose of calculating the execution of the sentence, each day is valued at 500 dirhams, ensuring that the measure delivers broad public benefit rather than serving a single institution or organization. The El Jadida court had sentenced Ilyas El Malki to ten months in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams on charges including incitement, defamation, insult, and slander.
