DR ‹ › Police have arrested 118 people since the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco, over ticket scalping and illegal resale, authorities said on Wednesday. According to official sources, the investigations were launched after dozens of social media posts were detected advertising match tickets at prices exceeding their official value. Through digital monitoring and field operations, suspects were identified and arrested in several Moroccan cities, particularly those hosting AFCON matches. The individuals arrested face charges including the illegal sale of stadium tickets, forgery and use of forged tickets, cybercrime offenses targeting electronic data processing systems, fraud and deception of buyers on the black market, as well as the creation and dissemination of false information related to AFCON 2025. Judicial investigations have been opened under the supervision of the public prosecution. Some suspects have been placed in custody, while others were released pending trial, depending on the nature and seriousness of their alleged involvement. Security operations are continuing in close coordination with local authorities to combat all forms of ticket speculation, both through online surveillance and on-the-ground enforcement, with the aim of identifying and arresting those involved in these illegal activities.
