DR ‹ › The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, is set to visit Morocco next week, spearheading a delegation from the Canary Islands that includes key figures from the economic, academic, and scientific sectors. This visit aims to bolster bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom. According to Alfonso Cabello, spokesperson for the regional government, this marks Clavijo's third visit to Morocco during the current legislative session. The trip is part of the «Africa Strategy», as reported by the Spanish news agency EFE. During the visit, meetings are planned with regional officials and the chambers of commerce in Agadir. The agenda also includes sector-specific discussions in maritime navigation, tourism, technology, and innovation. The delegation will feature the presidents of the two public universities in the Canary Islands, aiming to establish a roadmap for scientific collaboration, particularly in renewable energy, water desalination, health, and research, development, and innovation. Cabello highlighted that the visit's agenda does not address issues like migration, territorial waters, or rare minerals, as these topics are under the purview of the Spanish government and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that the mission is focused exclusively on university, scientific, and health cooperation, along with economic partnerships.
