DR ‹ › The Marrakech Court of Appeal has sentenced 48 individuals to a combined total of 106 years and six months in prison for their involvement in the GenZ 212 protests of September 2025. The demonstrations were marked by acts of violence, vandalism, and assaults on law enforcement officers. Six defendants received the heaviest sentences, six years in prison each, on charges including criminal association, arson of public buildings, aggravated theft, rebellion, and participation in armed gatherings. Seven others were sentenced to four years in prison for vandalism and violent theft. Four defendants were handed three-year prison terms for arson and public disorder. Twelve others received two-year sentences, some partially suspended, for property damage, obstruction of traffic, and violence against public officials. In addition, 21 defendants were sentenced to six months in prison for taking part in unauthorized demonstrations, disobedience, and damage to public property, though they were acquitted of the most serious charges.
