DR ‹ › Police in Settat have issued a statement firmly denying claims circulated on social media alongside a video posted on Wednesday, March 11. The posts alleged that a young girl had been targeted in an attempted luring and kidnapping by a woman in the city of Berrechid through acts of «charlatanry». According to the statement, the judicial police brigade in the regional security district of Berrechid opened an investigation after authorities confirmed that no complaints, reports, or calls had been received through the emergency «Line 19» regarding the alleged incident. Investigations enabled officers to identify all individuals appearing in the video, as well as the minor who initially posted it on social media. All those involved were questioned as part of the inquiry, which concluded that the events shown in the clip did not constitute a criminal act. Police also confirmed that the woman concerned is a local resident who has reportedly been suffering from mental illness for more than 15 years. The minor who published the video has been placed under supervision, while the two women who filmed and edited the footage have been placed in police custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the full circumstances and background of the case.
