DR ‹ › Videos showing clashes between villagers and law enforcement have circulated online, falsely presented by some users as «Israeli Jews stealing land» in Morocco or «taking back land from before they emigrated». Taken out of context, the footage shows confrontations between residents and security forces, but not in relation to any alleged land seizure by Jews. Instead, it captures the enforcement of a court ruling authorizing the opening of a quarry project in the El Kelaâ des Sraghna province, near Marrakech. In fact, the clashes, which Yabiladi has already reported about earlier in March, took place on March 22 in the village of Ouled Rami, in the Sidi Aissa Ben Slimane commune, as authorities moved to implement the decision. According to local human rights actors, the confrontation left several people injured on both sides, including a local gendarmerie commander. Local sources told Yabiladi that residents were protesting the project, located near three villages and a school, which has been contested for nearly two years. They raised concerns about environmental and health risks, including dust, noise, water depletion, and the quarry's proximity to a primary school. The situation escalated after an attempt at dialogue failed.
