DR ‹ › A senior American official, who led humanitarian issues at the State Department for four years, is expected in the Tindouf camps, according to a source close to the matter who spoke to Yabiladi. Tabari A. Dossett is scheduled to meet with Polisario leaders on Wednesday to discuss the delicate issue of dismantling the camps. This working visit comes just days after a meeting held on April 17 in Turkey between the special advisor to the American president for African and Arab affairs, Massad Boulos, and the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf. The issue of dismantling the camps was one of the main topics discussed during this meeting, as exclusively announced on Yabiladi this Monday. This trip illustrates the American administration's commitment to advancing the implementation of the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara, which notably includes the return of Sahrawi populations to the region. Tabari A. Dossett was behind the creation of the North Africa Regional Humanitarian Office at the State Department, overseeing programs in Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Libya. He previously served as the regional coordinator for refugees, leading the processing and resettlement operations for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and the Gulf region. He also founded Dastaan Consulting, a strategic development consulting firm offering specialized services to humanitarian and development organizations worldwide. The Polisario leadership has not yet communicated about Tabari Dossett's arrival in the Tindouf camps.
