Nearly 100 people attempted to swim to the shores of Ceuta over the course of two consecutive mornings. Authorities stationed at sea on both the Moroccan and Spanish sides detained around 90 individuals, while about a dozen reportedly managed to reach the enclave, taking advantage of dense fog. According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the first group—around 50 people—set out early Tuesday morning from the beach of Fnideq, aiming to reach Tarajal. This group included «several women» and nationals from sub-Saharan African countries, according to police sources cited by the agency. In response, the Spanish Civil Guard and Morocco's Royal Gendarmerie deployed maritime units to block their arrival. Those intercepted were taken into custody by Moroccan authorities. This was the second such attempt in recent days, following the arrival of nearly 74 Moroccan minors in Ceuta at the end of last month.
