The Spanish National Police have successfully dismantled a criminal network responsible for the theft of over 1,100 chairs from the terraces of cafes and restaurants in Madrid and Talavera de la Reina, located in the Toledo region. These stolen chairs were being trafficked for resale not only within Spain but also in countries like Morocco and Romania. As detailed in the police report, the thefts took place throughout August and September, affecting 18 hospitality venues and causing financial damages that surpassed 60,000 euros. The operations were conducted under the cover of night, taking advantage of the fact that these establishments stored their outdoor furniture on the street after closing hours. The investigation kicked off in August following complaints from restaurant and cafe owners who were shocked to discover their terrace chairs missing when they reopened their businesses in the morning.
