Moroccan lemon exports to the United Kingdom have set a new record. In the 2024/25 marketing year, Morocco shipped 1,200 tons of lemons to the UK, valued at USD 920,000 (8.5 million dirhams), a volume that exceeds the country's total lemon exports to the UK over the past decade. This new peak surpasses the previous record by 12%, a benchmark last reached in 2007/08, 17 years ago, according to EastFruit data. The UK is one of Morocco's most important fruit export markets, ranking just behind Spain and France. Morocco is already the UK's top supplier of raspberries and blueberries, and a major supplier of strawberries, mandarins, watermelons, and avocados, although lemon shipments had remained low until now. Thanks to this surge, Morocco has risen from 31st place in 2020/21 to 11th among the UK's lemon suppliers, overtaking Vietnam and Mexico and edging closer to the top ten. Even if the final ranking changes by year's end, the rebound remains significant, marking a turnaround after four consecutive years of decline.
