The United Nations Development System, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the French Institute in Rabat, and the Hip Hop Family Association, has launched a rap and slam competition titled «Words of Equality: Rap and Slam for Safe Digital Spaces». The initiative targets young people with the aim of raising awareness and mobilizing public opinion around gender equality and the fight against violence against women and girls, particularly online violence. According to the organizers, the competition invites young men and women passionate about rap or slam to showcase their talents through a video highlighting themes related to preventing and combating different forms of digital violence (such as cyber-harassment, sharing images without consent, blackmail, threats…), as well as stories and testimonies of survivors, and/or the role of men and boys in promoting safe and inclusive digital spaces for all. Creative works may be submitted in Arabic (Standard or Darija), Amazigh, French, or English. Submissions will be evaluated by a jury composed of representatives from the organizing institutions. The top three entries will be awarded during a prize ceremony in Rabat, where winners will also receive opportunities to showcase their talents and benefit from artistic support. This competition is part of the annual «16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence» campaign, held each year from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).
