DR ‹ › The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, has sent a cable of condolences to King Mohammed VI following the collapse of two residential buildings in Fez, which left at least 22 people dead and 16 injured. He expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The tragedy occurred on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. Authorities said the buildings, constructed in 2006 as part of the «Fez, City Without Slums» program for residents of Ain Smen, collapsed suddenly. Alongside the judicial investigation, administrative inquiries have been launched. A specialized engineering firm has been tasked with conducting a technical assessment to identify the causes of the collapse and any procedural failures in urban planning or construction.
