DR ‹ › Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over the grand opening of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco 2025) on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. Morocco will host this prestigious tournament until January 18, 2026. The Crown Prince then took his place in the royal box to witness the opening ceremony of CAN 2025, which dazzled with vibrant performances celebrating the unity, identity, and enduring spirit of African football. This was a captivating and choreographed spectacle where light served as the unifying element, connecting cultures, generations, and aspirations, while also celebrating Morocco as a Land of Football and Africa as a continent rich in diversity. Following this, FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered a speech, expressing his heartfelt thanks to King Mohammed VI for the warm reception and for uniting Africa and the world on this joyous occasion. After the national anthems of Comoros and Morocco played, the Crown Prince descended to the pitch to greet the players from both teams and the match officials for the opening game. He then had the honor of performing the symbolic kickoff of the match, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Moroccan team.
