Icon Sport ‹ › The national coach, Walid Regragui, said on Sunday in Rabat that PSG defender Achraf Hakimi will make his debut at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Zambia, in the third and final group-stage match of Group A. Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Monday's fixture at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Regragui said: «We don't yet know whether Hakimi will play the full match or come on as a substitute, but he will be involved.» He stressed that «no coach can do without his best player», adding that «we have Achraf Hakimi, who is doing an exceptional job». He explained that «our plan regarding Hakimi has worked well, and the national team will be stronger with his return». «Achraf is more than just a leader and captain of the national team; he is a key figure in the dressing room, alongside other experienced players,» the coach underlined, noting that Hakimi «sets an example for everyone, and it's important to see him pushing the whole group forward». For his part, Achraf Hakimi said he is feeling good, «thanks to a solid recovery program», while expressing his eagerness to rejoin the squad and take part in the match against Zambia. «I'm ready to begin my Africa Cup of Nations campaign and to win it,» he said, adding that the final decision on his involvement rests with the coach.
