DR ‹ › The Rabat Court of First Instance convicted Algerian YouTuber Raouf Belkasmi, on Monday evening, sentencing him to three months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams, following a trial conducted while he was in pretrial detention. The court found the defendant, currently held at Arjat Prison, guilty of public indecency and of uttering statements contrary to public morals and ethics against an individual or group during a sporting event. The Algerian supporter was arrested on January 7, in Casablanca, after the public prosecutor decided to pursue the case with the defendant in custody. He was subsequently transferred to Arjat Prison. The case stems from a video posted by Belkasmi in which he claimed to have urinated in the stands of Moulay Hassan Stadium, in the midst of spectators. He justified his actions by pointing to the intense pressure of the Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 match between his national team, whom he had traveled to Morocco to support, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
