DR ‹ › After meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov, the Algerian ambassador made his way to the headquarters of the Communist Party, where he championed the Polisario's cause. «The full liberation of Africa will only be realized when Western Sahara achieves independence. Decolonization began in the 1960s, yet Western Sahara remains Africa's final colony,» declared Algerian diplomat Toufik Djouama during a speech to members of the political group. The diplomat highlighted that «the Algerian people deeply value the Russian authorities' support for the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic's right to self-determination,» expressing hope that this backing «will continue and strengthen, as the Western Sahara issue is at a pivotal moment, necessitating intensified and more effective international solidarity.» It's worth noting that the United States Embassy in Madrid hosted discussions on the Sahara issue on February 8 and 9, bringing together the four key parties: Morocco, Algeria, the Polisario, and Mauritania, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted on October 31. The Algerian ambassador is working to persuade Moscow to help ease Washington's pressure on Algiers and the Polisario.
