DR ‹ › Local authorities in the provinces of Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Slimane, and Sidi Kacem have announced the expansion of the organized and phased return of residents who were temporarily evacuated due to the exceptional weather conditions that recently struck the region this Monday. In Larache Province, residents of Ksar El Kébir have been authorized to return to most neighborhoods starting Monday, February 16, 2026. Access remains temporarily restricted to the Second Administrative Annex, Al Bassatin neighborhood, the Cosumar residential area, the Regional Office for Agricultural Investment, the Sixth Administrative Annex, and the Route de Larache neighborhood, pending completion of precautionary measures. In Kenitra Province, authorities have prepared a dedicated plan to facilitate the return of residents in several douars within the commune of Mechra Bel Ksiri and neighboring areas. The phased return began Monday and covers multiple villages and cooperatives, with additional announcements to follow depending on field assessments. Meanwhile, in Sidi Slimane Province, authorities confirmed the full completion of the return process for residents evacuated from affected douars. The gradual operation began on Sunday, February 15, and concluded Monday under secure and organized conditions. In Sidi Kacem Province, the second phase of the return program also began Monday, February 16, benefiting residents from several communes, including Khnichat, Toughilt, Anouirat, Al Haouafat, Tekna, Bir Taleb, Sidi El Kamel, Armilat, Sidi Azzouz, and Safsaf. Additional phases will be announced as infrastructure readiness and safety evaluations progress. Authorities stressed that residents in areas not included in the current announcements must refrain from returning until official authorization is granted, in order to ensure safety and avoid disrupting organized operations. The expansion of authorized return zones follows improved weather conditions and positive results from field interventions carried out by public authorities and technical services to guarantee a safe and orderly return for all affected residents.
