On Monday, June 16, in Rabat, Morocco and Panama signed a cooperation roadmap for the 2025–2027 period, as announced on platform X by Panama's Foreign Minister, Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez, following talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita. Bilateral relations between the two countries have strengthened since November 2024, when Panama decided to suspend its recognition of the so-called «SADR». This renewed momentum will be reinforced by upcoming visits from senior Panamanian officials to Morocco. Rabat is expected to host, in the coming weeks or months, Panama's Ministers of Agriculture and Trade, as well as the head of intelligence, Nasser Bourita told the press. Investors from both countries are also being encouraged to take part in this growing partnership. The Moroccan foreign minister noted that future cooperation will focus on ports, fertilizers, and tourism. Nasser Bourita has also been invited to visit Panama in 2026, «to consolidate our bilateral ties and position Panama as a strategic destination for investment, innovation, and sustainable development in the region», said Martínez-Acha Vásquez. Panama currently holds a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council through December 31, 2026.
