A group of cannabis farmers from Ghafsai, a town in Taounate Province, staged a protest on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 5, in front of the Taounate prefecture. They expressed their frustration over the delayed payment of their financial dues from last season. The farmers said a significant amount of time has passed since they delivered their crops, yet they have received no official explanation for the delay, causing serious harm to their livelihoods. The protesters are calling on the provincial governor to intervene on their behalf with the owner of a company contracted in the legal cannabis industry. They say they have lost confidence in the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis, which previously advised them to take legal action against the company owner. According to al3omk, the farmers warned they would escalate their protest by marching to the capital, Rabat, and staging a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Interior if their financial dispute, with a company owner they accuse of stalling for over a year, is not resolved.
